3/7/10 UPDATE: Ayva graduated her Beginner Obedience course at Progressive Canine ( www.progressivecanine.com ) 2/22/10!!! Ayva is a pleasure to work with and loves to learn! All that energy, enthusiasm and drive are a beautiful thing when properly directed. Ayva can heel, sit, sit/stay and down. Ayva is house and crate trained. She LOVES going for car rides and being affectionate with her people. She has a very funny and goofy side. Ayva is seeking a special adopter that will meet her high energy level and will offer her activities to challenge her mentally. Ayva does not do well with small dogs/animals or other dominant dogs. If you are looking for an active dog that can keep up with you and you enjoy working with your dog Ayva may be the girl for you!

1/25/10 UPDATE Ayva passed her Canine Good Citizen Test! We are very proud of Ayva and know that someone will adopt a great dog!

12/1/09 UPDATE:

Dear Santa,
For Christmas I really want a family of my own! I am a sweet and wonderful girl according to my Foster Mom, so I think I am on the "Good Girl" List. I am hoping for a Forever Mom or Forever Dad, maybe even both!, of my own. I would be happy with a child too if one wants to play fetch with me. I would like a dog friend as long as it's a large breed boy dog or large breed submissive girl dog (no small dogs, cats, or pocket pets Santa!) I really like to do anything with my humans, so I will be a wonderful dog to enjoy activities like hiking, fetch, obedience, anything! Once my family and I have played and used up all our energy I LOVE to cuddle and I am very affectionate. I am very willing to please so if my Forever Family just teaches me what they want I am happy to do it for them. So, Santa please please please send me a family of my own for Christmas!
Love,
Ayva

10/27/09 UPDATE: Ayva continues to bloom in foster care! She attends a training group almost every Sunday and enjoys working with her Foster Mom on heel, down, sit and sit/stay. Ayva does wonderfully at these commands even with the distraction of several other dogs on the training field. Ayva is happy to please her humans and even happier now that she has been shown how to.

Ayva is an extremely affectionate dog and loves to get pets from her foster family. She is very friendly with new people and definitely is a charmer.

Ayva has lots of energy and is always up for any adventure! She enjoys playing ball, obedience training, walking/hiking and playing with stuffies. Ayva would be happy to try anything as long as it involves her being with her people.

Ayva is seeking a home with a medium-large breed dog (who is not pushy) or a home where she will be the only dog, older children, no small animals or cats and where she will have lots of exercise and love!

3/27/09 UPDATE: Since joining RRUFF in February Ayva has completed her treatment for Lyme Disease and she has almost reached her ideal weight!

Ayva is looking for an active family that has time to continue teaching her basic obedience and house manners. Ayva loves playing with other dogs, but does best with dogs who are not overly assertive and will not be a match with small breeds.

At the end of the day when things have quieted down Ayva loves to cuddle with her foster family and especially enjoys her belly rubs. Another cute habit Ayva has is to toss herself a tennis ball and chase it around. Even though Ayva needs further training to blossom into the wonderful Rottweiler we know she can be this girl charms everyone she meets and has that special something.

NEW 2/23/09: Ayva came from a shelter in Connecticut where she was found as a stray. The animal control officer stated she found her shivering by a car on a cold January day. Ayva's body shows the story of her rough beginnings - she is severely underweight, she has scarring on both ears and she is lyme positive. Despite Ayva's history she has very quickly settled into her foster family's routine.

Ayva is currently being fostered in MA. Ayva is being treated for Lyme Disease and is receiving a healthy diet to bring her back to a proper weight. Ayva has been spayed and is up to date on vaccines.
