RRUFF is staffed solely by volunteers.
Each and every volunteer is an integral part of the operation
of our organization from the evaluators who test dogs for suitability
for inclusion in our program, to the foster homes who provide
TLC, training, food and shelter for the dogs, to our adoption
application processors who review and process applications to
ensure adoptive families meet our criteria for adopting, to volunteers
who staff educational booths who gain exposure for our organization
and help educate the public on responsible Rottweiler ownership,
to volunteers who generate fundraisers to collect funds so that
we are able to provide the dogs with medical care and the supplies
necessary to nurture them while they are in our program. This
brief summary only touches the surface of the manpower and dedication
that our volunteers provide to support our organization.
What can YOU do?
Evaluate Dogs
Evaluating dogs is a very difficult but rewarding
experience. Evaluating can be dangerous, therefore, all of our
evaluators must apprentice under an experienced evaluator prior
to evaluating on their own. Each dog that is evaluated is exposed
to a series of tests by the evaluator to measure the dog's response
to different stimuli and the stability of the dog's temperament.
Foster a Dog
Fostering dogs is an extremely gratifying experience.
You are able to work one on one with the dogs, provide them
with TLC, food, shelter and training. Fostering requires some
previous experience with Rottweilers and a flexible household.
Transport a Dog
Dogs sometimes need to hitch a ride to make it into
their new foster home. We acquire dogs from local area shelters,
but we cover a large area. Transports help to move dogs from
the shelter to a foster home.
Process Adoption Applications
Do you like to talk to people? Would you like to
help people in their search for a great canine companion? Processing
adoption applications allows volunteers to connect with potential
adopters and verify that they meet RRUFF's qualifications to
adopt.
Staff Educational Booths
Do you love the Rottweiler breed and love to talk
about them? Staffing educational booths at local pet stores
and events is a very important aspect of RRUFF. Volunteers who
staff events gain positive exposure for the Rottweiler breed
as well as making the public aware of the plight of homeless
Rottweilers and the need for rescue.
Organize a Fundraiser
Rescuing and re-homing Rottweilers is an expensive
endeavor. RRUFF relies on the support of Rottweiler lovers to
provide donations to fund the activities of the organization.
